ABOUT US
The goal is to make gardening and homesteading information easy to understand, while providing accessibility to all, because I believe we ALL deserve to have more local, homegrown, healthy food, and abundance in our backyards and in our local communities.
The Lil Urban Farm began on a tiny quarter-acre yard plot in the center of a small hometown city with a few raised garden beds, a cute old pooch, and four chickens. It became a social media teaching space and brand during the early COVID pandemic lockdowns in order to help calm fears of food insecurity and food supply-chain issues.
This slogan represents the mission from the very beginning… we can successfully grow together, sharing our knowledge and resources. Plus, I honestly continue to learn as much from many of you as you learn from me. When I started gardening, I reached out to Facebook groups and friends for support, and that hasn’t really changed. I just ask for a little less support now than when I started… but I’m always looking for advice, tips, ideas, and new solutions to old problems. It how we grow and evolve our skills… so I continue to always seek out advice, guidance, and love from our community of growers and homesteaders.
A homesteading journey is one of continuous learning and partnership with each other… trading seeds, plants, knowledge, recipes, sourdough starters, baked goods, firewood, resources, etc. This is the root of our evolved heritage on this planet. It’s giving and receiving, while working together so that we ALL thrive and make strides toward healthier living and a more sustainable, unified planet.
ROOTED IN ACCESSIBILITY
My aim is to make information accessible for as many people as possible. This includes making information easy to understand and available across multiple channels.
ROOTED IN COMMUNITY
Work together to create a mutual space of learning, value, and success. Help one another.
ROOTED IN CURIOUSITY
Be open to learning new ideas and trying new things. Treat every obstacle as an opportunity to learn. Make mistakes… and then find ways to improve. It really is the best way to learn.
ROOTED IN HONESTY
Sharing honest experiences and feedback adds value for all of to learn together. My aim is to always provide factual knowledge, resources, and results.
ROOTED IN INCLUSIVITY & EQUALITY
Everyone deserves to have healthy food, without exception. I want everyone to have access to the information I teach.
ROOTED IN KINDNESS & RESPECT
I practice what I call a “kindness campaign,” which means I encourage kindness and respect in the Lil Urban Farm spaces.
ROOTED IN SUSTAINABILTY
My aim is to be a self-sufficient, reciprocal system. I honor our planet and environment and believe in “Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.”
